The Scheme is aimed at attracting the best and brightest students from around the world to come for PhD studies in Hong Kong, and I very much hope to have one of yours pursuing this degree with us at Lingnan. Each Fellowship awardee will be provided with a monthly stipend of HK$26,900* (US$1=HK$7.8) and a conference/research-related travel allowance of up to HK$13,500* per year for a maximum period of three years by the RGC. In addition, the full tuition fee for a non-local Fellowship awardee will be waived by Lingnan for his/her first year of study. For an awardee with a normative study period of four years, the University will offer the same level of Fellowship and conference/research-related travel allowance for his/her fourth year of study. The intention is to make this Scheme prestigious and highly international, hence hopefully attractive to you and your students/graduates.

To offer more diversified learning opportunities, especially for interdisciplinary research studies, Lingnan has been actively seeking collaborative opportunities with overseas universities. In the 2021-22 academic year, the University has launched the Double PhD Degree Programme in Economics with Wuhan University (WHU), China and the PhD Programmes with Joint Supervision with Shenzhen University (SZU), China in the research areas related to International Relations and Development Studies. Applicants may seek admission to our PhD programmes in two ways as follows:
Apply via the HKPFS+ during the period from 1 September to 1 December 2021 (Hong Kong Time 12:00 noon). Applicants who apply for and do not get the Fellowship can still be considered for the regular PhD places at Lingnan.
Apply to the University directly~ from 1 November 2021 to 21 January 2022. Normally, full-time PhD students will be awarded full Postgraduate Studentships. In 2021-22, the full monthly stipend is HK$18,090*# before confirmation of candidature and HK$18,440*# after confirmation of candidature.
We also have popular research-based 2-year MPhil programmes. Applicants may apply for admission to our MPhil programmes directly from 1 November 2021 to 21 January 2022. Full-time MPhil students will also be awarded Postgraduate Studentships. In 2021-22, the full monthly stipend is HK$17,830*#
