The Meeting with Mrs. Olivia Bellemere, Cultural Counsellor of the Cultural & Cooperation section at the Embassy of France in Sri Lanka

Mrs. Olivia Bellemere, Cultural Counsellor of the Cultural & Cooperation section at the Embassy of France in Sri Lanka visited the University of Peradeniya on the 09th of December 2022. Mrs. Olivia Bellemere was accompanied by Ms. Sarah TOUCAS, Director of the Alliance Française, Kandy.
Mrs. Olivia Bellemere and Ms. Sarah TOUCAS were welcomed by Prof. WMT. Madhujith, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, Prof. CNRA. Alles, Director, International Relations Office (InRO), and Dr. Ruwantha Kulathunga, Head of the Department of Classical Languages, Faculty of Arts.
After giving a brief introduction to the University of Peradeniya and the Department of Classical Languages, Acting Vice-Chancellor explained the current status and the history of teaching the French Language at the University of Peradeniya. Dr. Ruwantha Kulatunga emphasized the importance of restarting the French language Course and the progress of starting modern language courses at the University of Peradeniya. Developing strong linkages with French Universities for academic collaborations including teachers training, curriculum development, staff exchanges, and material sharing, with the support of the Embassy of France in Colombo and Alliance Française, Kandy were discussed at the brief meeting.
