Francophonie – 2023
at University of Peradeniya

The Embassy of Switzerland to Sri Lanka and the Maldives together with the International Organization of la francophonie celebrated Francophonie 2023, featuring "Les Monsieur Monsieur", the famed duo Laurent BRUNETTI and Mario PACCHIOLI from Switzerland. The Inaugural performance was held at the ‘Garden Nuga’, Sri Lanka Foundation Institute (SLFI), on Friday 24th March from 07.00 p.m. onwards, followed by a performance in Jaffna at the Kailasapathy Auditorium, University of Jaffna on Sunday, 26th March at 07.00 p.m. and finally in Kandy on Tuesday, 28th March at 06.00 p.m. at the Engineering Faculty Auditorium (E. O. E. Pereira theatre), University of Peradeniya.
Musicians have performed a piano masterclass for the students in the morning on 28th of March 2023 at E.O.E Pereira Theatre at University of Peradeniya, in collaboration with the Department of Fine Arts and at the same day evening “Francophonie” Concert was held in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering. To light up this event, Fine Arts students from Peradeniya University performed a Traditional Sri Lankan Songs.
Delegates from the Swiss Embassy, His Excellency Raoul Imbach, Deputy Head of the Mission/Head of Chancery and the representatives from the embassy have participated in the event.
Prof. W.M.T. Madhujith, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Peradeniya, Dr.U.I. Dissanayake, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, Prof. C.N.R.A. Alles, Director, International Relations Office, Dr. Sudhesh Manthilake, Head of the Department, Department of Fine Arts, and the staff members of the department of Fine Arts also participated in the event. The management committee members of the InRO, staff members of the University of Peradeniya, students and the general public participated in the event.
