Opening Ceremony of the TOOLKIT International Communication Hub at University of Peradeniya

International Relations Office organized Opening Ceremony of the “TOOLKIT International Communication Hub" under the patronage of Prof. Upul B. Dissanayake, Vice Chancellor, University of Peradeniya, held on 2nd July 2021 at the New Library Building, University of Peradeniya. The objective of this event was to declare open the TOOLKIT International Communication Hub at University of Peradeniya which is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union for enhancement and modernization of the internationalization strategies pursued by Asian universities, especially in terms of the capabilities displayed by the university governance in building up an “Asian way” to internationalization.

Internationalization of higher education has become a major concern in order to enhance the quality of education and it is expected that the TOOLKIT International Communication HUB would facilitate and promote international communication within university staff and students by virtue of a more efficient synergy towards an effective integration with the global academic community.

Prof. Upul B. Dissanayake, Vice Chancellor, University of Peradeniya, Prof. S.H.P.P. Karunaratne, Deputy Vice- Chancellor, University of Peradeniya, Prof. Shameen Jinadasa, Director, International Relations Office and the project Coordinator, Prof. Nimal Dharmasena, Director, Career Guidance Unit and TOOLKIT project team member, Mr. R. Maheswaran, Librarian, University of Peradeniya, along with distinguished guests including Deans of Faculties, Directors of Postgraduate institutes graced the prestigious occasion on 2nd July 2021.

The event was organized in a hybrid mode where guests could participate either in person or virtually and many distinguished guests were took part via zoom flat form including Mr Frank Hess, Head of Cooperation section at EU Delegation to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Ms. Franca Maria Mura and Ms. Lucia Ippolito – TOOLKIT Project Coordinators, University of Bologna who conveyed their warm wishes.

Parallel to the event, International Relations office launched the MoU Dashboard with collaboration of Computer Engineering Department of Faculty of Engineering with their great support of Dr. Damayanthi Herath, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering and her team. MoU Dashboard was officially launched by Prof. Upul B. Dissanayake, Vice Chancellor, University of Peradeniya.
