Webinar 2: Stormwater Harvesting and Groundwater Recharge

The webinar series on "Industrial Water and Wastewater Management Challenges and Solutions" was jointly organized by the Joint Research and Demonstration Center for Water Technology (JRDC), Sri Lanka, Faculty of Engineering (NSF-NSFC project), University of Peradeniya, and the Water: Effective Technologies and Tools (WETT) Research Centre RMIT University, Australia through the support of the International Relations Office, University of Peradeniya. This webinar series targeted the local industries and aimed to identify prevailing water management issues and discuss sustainable solutions.
The second webinar, “Stormwater Harvesting and Groundwater Recharge” was held on 13th May 2021 at 10 AM Sri Lanka (GMT+5:30). Two eminent resource persons, Prof. Ashantha Goonetilleke, a Professor in Water/Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Queensland University of Technology, Australia and A/Prof. Matthew Currell, an Associate Professor, Chemical and Environmental Engineering, School of Engineering, RMIT University, Australia shared their expertise at the session. Prof. Goonetilleke delivered the first talk on “Stormwater harvesting” and the second talk on “Understanding groundwater recharge in urbanizing catchments to aid water cycle management” was delivered by A/Prof. Currell. The discussion was moderated by Prof. K.D.W. Nandalal, Senior Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.
