Visit of Delegates from Saga University, Japan

A meeting with delegates from Saga University, Japan, was held at the International Relations Office (InRO), University of Peradeniya, on 24th June 2026 from 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m.
The meeting was attended by Dr. N.M.T. Anupama, Acting Director of the International Relations Office, and Dr. J.M.P.N. Anuradha, Head of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Faculty of Agriculture, along with the staff of InRO.
The delegation from Saga University comprised Prof. Saliya De Silva, Professor, Faculty of Economics; Prof. Miho Fujimura, Professor, Faculty of Agriculture; and Dr. Tadayuki Tsujita, Assistant to the President for International Exchange and Academic Affairs.
The meeting focused on strengthening the existing collaboration between the University of Peradeniya and Saga University and exploring opportunities for further academic engagement.
During the discussions, the delegates expressed their interest in expediting the approval process of the current Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities and requested special consideration to facilitate its early finalization and implementation.
Discussions were also held regarding the renewal of the agreement governing the Asian Economic Symposium, particularly in view of the inclusion of an additional participating country in the agreement.
Furthermore, the delegation requested the support of the University of Peradeniya in promoting scholarship opportunities offered by Saga University by disseminating relevant information and promotional materials through the Deans of the Faculties.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening academic cooperation and exploring new avenues for collaboration in teaching, research, student mobility, and international engagement between the University of Peradeniya and Saga University, Japan.
