JICA Chair Programme Closing Ceremony 2022

The Closing Ceremony of the Japan’s Modernization Studies, JICA Chair Program 2022 was successfully held on February 8, 2023 at Oak Ray Regency to mark the successful completion of the course by over 500 students from all districts of the country. The ceremony was organized by the Sri Lanka – Japan Study Centre (SLJSC) in collaboration with the International Relations Office (InRO), CIVCO of the University of Peradeniya and Sri Lanka Academics Association in Japan. As the Chief Guest, Prof. MD. Lamawansa, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, attended the event. Prof. WMT. Madhujith, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Peradeniya, Ms. Ide Yuri, Senior Representative, JICA Sri Lanka, Prof. CNRA. Alles, the Director, InRO, University of Peradeniya, Dr. Panduka Neluwala, the Director, SLJSC, and other invited dignitaries were also present.
Following the keynote address by Dr. Ogata Kazuo’s entitled Agriculture Development in Japan: a Very Brief History of 150 Years
a panel discussion was held. Prof. Kamala Liyanage, Professor Emeritus, University of Peradeniya and Dr. Ogata Kazuo, University of Jaffna, served as panelists and the session was moderated by Prof. Buddhi Marambe.
