| 03 June 2021
(Webinar Series on Industrial Water and Wastewater Management Challenges and Solutions)
The webinar series on "Industrial Water and Wastewater Management Challenges and Solutions" was jointly organized by the Joint Research and Demonstration Center for Water Technology (JRDC), Sri Lanka, Faculty of Engineering (NSF-NSFC project), University of Peradeniya, and the Water: Effective Technologies and Tools (WETT) Research Centre RMIT University, Australia through the support of the International Relations Office, University of Peradeniya. This webinar series targeted the local industries and aimed to identify prevailing water management issues and discuss sustainable solutions.
The third webinar, “Brackish and Seawater Desalination: Reverse Osmosis (RO) and other technologies” was held on 03rd June 2021 at 10 AM Sri Lanka (GMT+5:30). Two eminent resource persons, A/Prof. Linhua Fan, an Associate Professor, Chemical and Environmental Engineering, School of Engineering, RMIT University, Australia and Prof. Wang Rong, President’s Chair Professor, School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, College of Engineering/ Director, Singapore Membrane Technology Centre, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore shared their expertise at the session. A/Prof. Fan delivered the first talk on “Desalination in Australia: An Overview” and the second talk on “Development of novel reverse osmosis membranes for water reuse and desalination” was delivered by Prof. Wang. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Nadeeshani Nanayakkara, Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.
